About S V V A N
My Journey
S V V A N (pronounced "swan") is the professional name of Jade Huynh, a multi-talented artist based in Los Angeles, CA. My journey into professional origami was unexpected - I originally attended culinary school and worked as a pastry chef for ten years, developing a passion for creating delicate items under intense work conditions.
While I thought patisserie would be my lifelong career, I continued practicing origami - a childhood hobby - and discovered a deeper connection to paper folding during the last two years of my pastry career.
Born to Vietnamese immigrant parents, I grew up in Faribault, Minnesota, where I often struggled with fitting in as a shy young girl. Origami has become a therapeutic practice for me, helping me heal emotionally and mentally while finding my identity.

ARTIST STATEMENT
My journey as an origami artist began while I was on a completely different career path. Making the leap was seen as risky—something that didn’t make sense to others. But when you’re doing something that hasn’t been done before, nothing makes sense at first. Exploring the unknown through origami has been both fulfilling and challenging, allowing me to grow into myself while breaking through the glass ceilings of what people believe origami can be. I continue to reach beyond limits—to aim beyond the stars, beyond the moon—driven by the belief that origami is my superpower, and that there is a place for it everywhere in the world.
